Travel east on Scenic Highway 14 towards Mountain View and between Fifty Six and Allison you'll discover Blanchard Springs Caverns, a huge natural cavern with rooms of sparkling flow stone, towering columns, delicate soda straw stalactites, and beautiful crystalline formations.
This is a "living cave" which means that is is constantly growing and changing. The cave was considered "the find of the century" and offers almost every calcite formation in a limestone cave.
The caverns are operated by the US Forest Service and offer guided tours, a Visitor's Center, bookstore, and summer interpretive programs.
The caverns are located in the Ozark National Forest. There are areas nearby that are available for camping, swimming, and fishing, making this a special destination for anyone interested in experiencing the natural wonders of the Ozark Mountain Region. |
